SLPD Traffic Stop seizes 1.2 million dollars in methamphetamine


On July 27, 2019 at about 1154 hours, San Luis Police Officers working Operation Stone Garden, in support of border security, conducted a traffic stop on a white 2016 Toyota Corolla by Los Oros Street and Main Street within the San Luis City limits.

During the traffic stop SLPD K9 Unit discovered a total of 68.04 pounds of Methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of over 1.2 million dollars. The dangerous drug was found in various compartments of the vehicle, wrapped in vacuumed seal plastic bags.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as 18 y/o Sasha Tinoco Nunez from Calexico, California. Sasha was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center for the following felony charges: Possession of Dangerous Drugs, Possession of Dangerous Drugs to transport for sale or import into the State, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
