Patrolman Joe Orduño was killed when his patrol car was struck head-on by another vehicle on Highway 95. Officer Orduño was responding to an emergency call to back up a detective with a report of a child that had been kidnapped. The child was found not have been kidnapped and was found safe by family members. Patrolman Orduño had served with the agency for 2 years. He was survived by his wife who was expecting their first child.
