This holiday season, the San Luis Police Department will deploy additional staffing focusing on Impaired Driving through DUI and Selective Traffic Enforcement.
The police department will continue its support of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety DUI Traffic Enforcement Program with this latest round of enforcement that will continue throughout the month of December until the beginning of January 2024.
The objective of the traffic enforcement program is to reduce the number of vehicle collisions resulting in injuries and fatalities through increased high visibility enforcement. Police will focus on occupant restraints (seat belts), impaired driving (driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs), speeding enforcement, and pedestrian safety. Increased patrol efforts will focused throughout the City of San Luis and surrounding areas.
San Luis Police Department would like to remind everyone who drinks alcoholic beverages to do so responsibly and have a designated driver. We remind motorists and passengers it only takes a second or two to fasten a seat belt, which may be the outlining factor that could help save your life. Be responsible and enjoy the celebrations.
As a reminder, violations of traffic law restrictions are punishable by fines and possible jail time. Please report suspected DUI, reckless, and unsafe driving to the San Luis Police Department by dialing (928) 341-3420 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies, or 78-Crime at 928-782-7463 to remain anonymous. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
From the San Luis Police Department, we wish you a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
