Honor Guard

The San Luis Police Department Honor Guard is a volunteer assignment comprised of four sworn officers. The Honor Guard’s primary responsibility is to honor law enforcement officers by attending police funerals.

Other duties include representing the Department at public events, memorial services and special requests from community groups. The Honor Guard reflects the highest traditions of law enforcement; professionalism, integrity, dignity and respect at the following events:

  • Funerals
  • Posting of National Colors
  • Memorial Services
  • Parades
  • Special events on request

Nigel Reynoso

Chief Nigel Reynoso was born in San Luis, Mexico and has been a resident of San Luis, Arizona since 1988. He has served the community as a Police Officer for the City of San Luis Police Department since 2005.

Chief Reynoso has commanded all divisions of the San Luis Police Department including Patrol, Support Services, and Administration as a Police Lieutenant.

Chief Reynoso is a graduate of Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command and the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration. He is also a graduate of the Arizona Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) Leadership Program (ALP) Session 21 and has completed the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s leadership schools and has achieved the FBI-LEEDA Trilogy Award.

Chief Reynoso serves as a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Arizona Association of Chief of Police, and the Yuma County Drugs & Delinquency Coalition. Chief Reynos is a United States Marine Corps Veteran.

Alan Guevara

Lieutenant Guevara began his career as a Communications Officer in 2004. After graduating from the AWC Law Enforcement Training Academy in 2011, he was appointed as a Police Officer for the San Luis Police Department.

Lieutenant Guevara’s previous assignments include being assigned as a supervisor for the Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) as well as a supervisor assigned to a patrol squad. Lieutenant Guevara is a certified AZ POST General Instructor, and was certified as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Tactical EMT.  Lieutenant Guevara has also served as a Field Training Officer, Bike Patrol Officer, and was a member of the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU). He has previously served as a Volunteer Program Coordinator, Reserve Program Liaison, and Citizens Academy Liaison.
