On Sunday November 15th, SLPD responded to the 100 Block of Los Montes Street in regards to a report of two male subjects involved in a fight. When officers arrived, they found the victim Arturo Lira deceased inside the residence. Officers then found Gabriel Cano inside the residence and took him into custody.
Gabriel was later transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center and later flown to Phoenix area hospital with a head injury. Gabriel was later released from the hospital and officers took him into custody for a warrant he had pending with the San Luis Municipal Court.
Later Wednesday evening, SLPD detectives interviewed Gabriel and later booked him into the Yuma County Detention Center on the charge of Homicide 2nd Degree.
