SLPD investigates Fatal Accident

Today at 0451 hours, officers from the San Luis Police Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at 10th Avenue and Los Alamos Street. The vehicles were identified as a blue 2007 Pontiac, driven by Brian Silva-Lopez, and a red 1998 Chevrolet Corvette, driven by Marco Bustamante-Grimaldi, both drivers are residents of San Luis, Arizona. At the time of the collision, the blue Pontiac was traveling northbound on 10th Avenue, when the red Corvette, which was traveling westbound on Los Alamos Street, was struck by the Pontiac in a T-bone manner. As a result of the collision, one fatality was sustained and one arrest has been made. At this time, there is an ongoing investigation still being conducted. Brian Silva-Lopez was booked into the Yuma County Adult Detention Center under charges of driving under the influence and 2nd Degree Murder and is being held on a $100,000 cash bond. The San Luis Police Department would like to remind our residents and visitors to be attentive to all traffic laws and road conditions during this busy holiday season.
