On 12-22-2021, The San Luis Police Department responded to an armed robbery that took place outside a residence within the vicinity of San Luis, Arizona. The suspect, later identified as Luis Villapudua, fled the scene leading to a foot pursuit from responding officers. He was apprehended shortly thereafter. One of the officers was injured during the foot pursuit. The officer was later taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment, and was released later that day with no further incident. Villapudua, who was booked into the Yuma County Jail under several felony charges, was arraigned on 02-28-2021 for the following felony charges at the San Luis Justice of the Peace Court: Armed Robbery, Kidnapping, Burglary in the First Degree, Aggravated Assault and Resisting Arrest.
