Memorial Day Traffic and DUI Enforcement Weekend

The San Luis Police Department will be conducting traffic (STEP) and DUI enforcement details from Friday, May 22nd to Monday, May 25th for the Memorial Day celebration. The SLPD officers will provide enhanced traffic and DUI enforcement in support of a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS).

The objective of the traffic enforcement program is to reduce the number of vehicle collisions and the resulting injuries and fatalities through increased highly visible enforcement. Police officers will focus on seatbelt violations, impaired driving, speeding, use of electronic devices while driving and pedestrian safety. Increased patrol efforts will be focused throughout different areas in the City of San Luis. We remind motorists and passengers it only takes a second or two to fasten a seatbelt. A seatbelt could help save your life. If you are drinking, plan accordingly and designate a sober driver. If you are traveling out of town, take your time, use caution on the road, don’t drive distracted, and ensure all occupants in your vehicle are wearing a seatbelt. Drive safe, arrive safe!

Please report suspected DUI, reckless, and unsafe driving to the San Luis Police Department at (928)341-2420 for non-emergencies, 911 for emergencies or “78-Crime” at (928)782-7463 to remain anonymous. IF YOU SEE SOMETHING, SAY SOMETHING!
