SLPD Traffic Stop Leads to 1 Arrest and 33 Pounds of Methamphetamine

On Friday March 31st at about 0628 hours, a traffic stop was conducted by the San Luis Police Department on a 2015 White Jeep Cherokee at the 1000 block of Main Street for a vehicle equipment violation.

During the course of the traffic stop, the officer observed inconsistent stories from the driver which led the officer to further his investigation. During the course of the investigation, SLPD Officer’s found the narcotics concealed inside a spare tire.

The driver was identified as 31 year old Fabiola Gomez of San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora. Fabiola was later turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for prosecution. The traffic stop was conducted by a SLPD unit that was assigned to work Operation Stone Garden on that date.

The total weight of the packages was 33.2 pounds with an estimated street value of $115,500 dollars.
