The South Yuma County DUI Task Force will initiate their DUI enforcement activities in addition to saturation patrol for speed enforcement this weekend. This DUI Task Force Includes the participation of the San Luis Police Department and the Somerton Police Department. The details will start on March 15th, 2019 till March 17th, 2019 in efforts to detect, stop, and arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers and conduct traffic enforcement activities to promote safe and attentive driving. Funding for these special details is provided through a grant awarded by the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety. These funds help the San Luis Police Department and the Somerton Police Department to increase the number of officers on patrol throughout the City of San Luis and City of Somerton, with the goal of significantly minimizing the number of traffic related incidents. The San Luis and Somerton Police Departments would like to encourage all residents and visiting citizens to be safe and conscious drivers.
