Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Awards the San Luis Police Department $50,000 in Grants for Fiscal Year 2025-2026

The San Luis Police Department (SLPD) obtained $15,000 to enhance DUI Alcohol Enforcement efforts throughout the City of San Luis for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The funds awarded through this grant will allow SLPD officers to focus on impaired driver detection during the busy holiday seasons in an effort to minimize accidents that result in injuries and deaths.

Also, the SLPD obtained $20,000 to have more officers deployed during the busy holiday seasons and focus on traffic violations that put other motorists in danger. This as part of the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). These funds will allow officers to patrol areas where speeding and aggressive driving behavior has been reported.

Additionally, the SLPD obtained $15,000 to spend in occupant restraint equipment as part of the Occupant Protection Awareness. These funds will be used to purchase education related materials and supplies such as car seats for distribution events to the community as well as education and awareness for the community.

The SLPD, with the help of the Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, will be able to continue to deploy resources in efforts to continue to reduce serious injuries and deaths by arresting and removing from the roadway impaired drivers and enforce traffic laws during the most congested seasons.
