On October 24th and October 27th, 2014, San Luis Police Officers completed a 40 hour Patrol Rifle Course that certified them in the use of the semi-automatic AR-15 rifle.
A total of 28 patrol rifles were recently purchased through police seizure funds. The rifles were purchased from Sionic Weapons System.
Officers underwent academic and proficiency testing prior to being certified in the use of the rifles. The course was instructed by department certified rifle instructors, Sergeant Nigel Reynoso and Corporal Miguel Alvarez.
The addition of the new patrol rifles to the San Luis Police Department will provide each police officer with an additional tool that better prepares them for any high-risk encounter.
